Bike racks don't need to be the typical metal loop bolted into the ground. They can instead be more like a sculpture; a work of art that we chain our bikes to. In Coeur d'Alene we've already seen some cool designs, like the fork on 4th Street. So, as we expand and/or revamp our city, keeping these art project bike racks in mind could be a good idea. There is a downside, though. They probably cost more to design and make overall, but I'm sure the benefits outweigh the consequences. Custom bike racks are an easy excuse to make a city or even just the front of a building more interesting.
