In case you missed it (I did too), there was a Summer Parkways event in Spokane in this weekend.
Here's the story from the Spokesman.
Hopefully, we can do something like that in Coeur d'Alene in the near future...
This site hosts discussions and articles on everything ped/bike. The committee will post information on bicycle safety, Safe Routes to School, Rules of the Road, pedestrian access for the disabled, public transportation, the future of pedestrians and bicycles in Coeur d'Alene, and upcoming issues. The site also has links to many sites related to ped/bike issues. Feel free to post comments, questions or suggestions about Coeur d'Alene's pedestrian and bicycle facilities here.
I attended this event and it was great! A ton of people attended, a lot more than I would have expected for a first-time event. It would be a great idea for North Idaho as well.
ReplyDeleteWe did have a great event in Coeur d'Alene last weekend. ( http://lovecda.com/news/parks-day-2010 ) Parks Day at the Sunshine Meadows and Landings parks. There were even bicycle safety events for the kids and free helmets and bike tune-ups offered. Previous years featured the hiking/biking trails on Canfield and the Prairie Trail connecting some of the parks here in CdA.
